How would you describe Great Britain -or the UK- in one phrase or word, and why

How would you describe Great Britain -or the UK- in one phrase or word, and why?
For instance, Belgium - The land of bureaucrats because most of belgians work in the government. Would it be, England, land of etiquette, protocol, tea... Any answer is welcome, only you have to justified it, explain why. Thanks for your help.

Britain the Confused. We are really 4 countries (Scotland, N.Ireland, Wales, England) melded into one, there is no true sense of national identity and we never get the government we ask for, I mean who really wanted to go to war? not the majority, who's happy our leader has nose so far up bushes arse?

Much more culturally diverse then America. I found the british to be more tolerant of other cultures and more excepting of the differences in people.

Great Britain : a country NONE like the others. Land of traditions. When you arrive into the UK, is other than the continent. The manner you seems to live with the idea that you still have an empire and rules the world (and reacts as if you are still a world power). You have had less influence from other countries since you did not have any occupation since ages. Funny is also the way that you react as practically all Europe does something in one way, you react as if the others are the strange ones. A lot of traditions. Your English humour. For that rather undeterminated "British", I like your country. By the way : I don't know where you have the impression that most of the Belgians work in the government (Belgium land of bureaucrats). That's definitely wrong. I think it comes from the EC in Brussels, but a lot of the people "working" there are not Belgians but foreigners (also a lot of British).
