As an American Citizen, how would I go about attaining a British Work Visa

As an American Citizen, how would I go about attaining a British Work Visa?
I am currently a U.S. college student in California, but I want to travel around for a bit. Afterall this is about the only time I'll get to experience it. I would very much like to live in Britain for a year or so, but I'd need to get a job to support myself while I am there. Any information would be great. Thanks!

First off, "Britain" is basically short for The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.... I will assume you mean England lol. As for working there, it will NOT be easy. You will need more than a visa. You will need to get a work permit...however, YOU can't get it....the company that wishes to hire you will have to get it on your behalf. So, you will need to find a company that wishes to hire you, they will apply for a permit on your behalf (sometimes they will pay for it, sometimes you will have to pay for it yourself), then you can get a visa, then you can go there and work. It is extremely diffiult to get one of these lol. But, here are a few links that may help you. good luck! :) www.ukvisas.gov.uk www.workpermits.gov.uk
