Due to an internal banking error my extortionate council tax (£120 pm 1 bed flat) was not paid on time, It was 5 days late. In the post I was very surprised to find a court summons and a fine of £55 for the late payment. When challenged the council simply told me to write in. Now, my partner and I have never ever claimed benefits so I was shocked that we were treated like this, did you not get any leniency or at least a few days grace? Anyway, I went into the offices, took my ticket and placed myself in the queue. After 5 minutes of subtle observation I was aware that the 2 or 3 parties in front of me were actually discussing ways of avoiding paying anything at all. An Eastern European family had lots of paperwork, namely '' housing and council tax benefit evidence checklist'' which indicated to me they were trying to avoid paying. 3 girls opposite, 1 pregnant were discussing how much they are given and the best ways to manipulate the system, advising each other how best to word their cases, so they were experts. I felt riled, continually the same types of people rolled in, all with a wanton look on their faces, I accept the unemployment problem and I know I sound like an old record but today I was really really shocked by how much abuse our battered system is taking from people who dont give a toss and would happily take take take forever. I am slowly being misguided into thinking that it really is easier not to work and have my bills paid for me...... I know this isnt the most structured or articulate remonstration but I feel better. Get rid of the illegals and immigrants that ain't doing f*** all! Any jobs that are left over! Give it to the lazy Brits whether they like it or not! If they refuse to work, remove all their benefits! SIMPLE! DON'T VOTE LABOUR!

I am strongly in favour of some kind of community service for the long term unemployed. Cleaning hospitals, picking up litter just SOMETHING to get them off their lazy árses. If they were being made to do some sort of work to earn their benefits you'd soon see them get a proper, better paid job quick enough. My husband is a manager in a betting shop. All day long he sees layabouts getting drunk and squandering their money...sorry HIS money that his taxes paid for. Sickening.

well mass immigration from eastern europe is not helping at all. there are many ethnic brits unemployed, once they create more jobs that means less brits on their arses claiming.
