Would this work for my History essay

Would this work for my History essay?
I have a history essay, and I want to see if this sounds okay. Is there anything I need to add or take out to make this sound better? Any and all advice is appreciated. The French and Indian War of 1756-1783 brought on a large debt to Great Britain. Great Britain began efforts of securing colonial compliance in reducing the debts that ended up leading to more disputes and other confrontations. One of the biggest reasons revolved around the Stamp Act of 1765, where an official seal must have a stamp on it when bought, including each and every piece of paper. Another reason for the outbursts would be due to religion and to get away from prosecution of Great Britain by the colonials. British colonists were beginning to move on west. George Greenville became chancellor of the chequer in 1763, and determined that colonists would stop smuggling, taxes would get paid, those in trouble- legally- would face court and taxes would regularly and faithfully be paid and given to Great Britain. The Sugar Act of 1764 was one of the first taxes that raised prices, and also taxed wine, coffee and a few other products. Colonies began to protest because there was no right authority since it wasn’t for just reasons and began to anger and rebel against such acts, believing that Great Britain should tax their own citizens in their country to pay for the costs of war and leave them out of the costs since they were not represented in the British Parliament and claiming it was unjust and unequal since they had already helped so much with a war they had not started and did not see the reason they should suffer more. The British simply needed more money and passed yet another tax, the Stamp Act of 1765, requiring the purchase of “officially stamped paper for use in virtually all printed documents” from newspapers and deeds to legal decisions on paper and certificates. Protests began in full force at this point, from mobs and regular citizens to the Virginia House of Burgesses. Parliament saw every right and reason to tax the colonials but did not prepare nor expect all of the protests received, or at least take them seriously. The colonists were seen as acting disrespectful and ungrateful. The colonies began to attempt an appeal of the Stamp Act, calling the means that anything else could be next and any right could be taken if they didn’t stop it now and that only their own representatives should be able to tax the colonies. The Stamp Act was finally repealed and ‘American’s’ rejoiced while British began to try more so to assert power and show the colonies they were in charge. Anger and tension remained and grew when British kept over 30,000 troops around their port areas, the colonies claiming it was to keep them under control. Then there was the Tea Act of 1773, colonists rebelled against this with the popular known Boston Tea Party. This set tensions for with the colonists and British to an all time high. The colonist were ordered to reimburse for the damage and figured that once the rest of the colonist found out about the many orders, they would also fall in line and follow the rules again. Trials were now military style and troops quartered close by with British getting great and extended powers, in a valiant attempt to isolate the colonies, but it backfired and only made their unity stronger. Angered and outraged with what they did not understand or see as fair, the colonist began to embark on the possibility of becoming a nation for their self and to plan on fighting for their freedom. *** Please let me know what you think and thanks in advance for any help anyone is willing to help me with!

I'd say just go ahead and use that, it sounds okay as long as you have your facts and times all right, best of luck and hope you get a good grade.

Wonderful Emily that you are actually doing all this work. A few things I noted that might make the paper even better is that the dates jump on the paper a bit. Sorting the data and events might make your paper seem even clearer. Also a typo in that the French and Indian war only lasted until 1763. If your intend was to provide an overview of events in the first paragraph and then take a deeper look in each of the next ones you might consider giving just the name and dates of all or several of the the Acts passed by parliament, without giving details, and then going into depth on the following paragraphs. An other option is to go chronologically from the start of your essay. One last thing, give each paragraph a full spacing. That makes it easier to read. (Not sure if you were simply trying to save space here on this site to fit the whole essay in.) Hope that helped !
