is google work from home genuine

is google work from home genuine?
a pop up window came up saying that google are now hiring people to work from home i dont know if it is another scam or is it real any ideas would be appreaciated thanks. this is what they have said Breaking News: Google Hiring British Citizens To Work From Home Google is Set To Hire A Group Of People From Britain To Work From Home In The Next Few Days. Thousands Of Jobs Available, Anyone Can Apply. Many sites showcase people making as much as $300 a day working online from home on their computer working from Google. Has the online titan now opened the doors for everyday people like you to work for them? If this is true, that means that thousands of people from all of Britain might have a safe and bright future working from the comfort of their homes, all of which will be decided in the next few days. In the middle of this recession this country and the world is going through, Google has been thriving and reporting profits consistently every quarter. Completely innovating the Search Engine industry in the late 1990's, Google has had a history of development and innovation, and another one is about to come. Google has now opened it's doors and will be hiring everyday people to work from the comfort of their own homes posting links. The way this works is Google will allow people to signup and receive a package which will contain all the step by step instructions to get setup from home. This will allow Google to hire talent in places like Britain that would otherwise be unreachable and compensate them based on results on a long term basis. What you need: A Computer, an Internet Connection and the desire to make a living working from home. No special skills are required other than knowing how to use a computer and navigate the internet. Mary, a mother from Toronto, who worked with Google in the experimental parts of this program, is thriving, in the middle of an economic recession, working in the comfort of her own home with Google. From her website: "I get paid about $25 USD for every link I post on Google and I get paid every week... I make around $5500 USD a month right now" Google has now officially released their new "work from home" system out to the public. There will be thousand of spots available that are expected to go very soon in the next few days. The way this works is very simple, Google says. First you will need to apply for their work from home kits. Google has release a limited amount of kits, all distributed through local websites in your area throughout US and Britain, which will cost $2 of shipping and handling to the public. Google says this charge is made to cover shipping costs but also to separate the people that are serious about working with them through this program. Once you have ordered your kit (if you are one of the lucky few to get availability in your area) then you will receive a package that will contain all the instructions you need to start working from home for the online titan. This kit will show you all you need to know, Google says. You will be performing simple and straightforward tasks such as posting links. "Anybody with basic computer skills will be able to perform these tasks" adding to that they say that "We understand the psychology of working from home and we want to give our employees tasks that are simple and easy, and reward them generously in order to keep them motivated." Is this worth quitting your job? If you're lucky enough to receive a kit, you might not even have to. "We start off our work from home program only requiring 1-2 hours a day of work, earning a great income from the start. This way our work from home employees will see the benefit and start devoting more and more time each day and their salaries will increase accordingly" Google reports. Although they are going very fast since their release earlier today, thousands of positions are still available at the time of this writing. To apply for a job working from home for Google here are the three steps: Step 1: Get the Google Work From Home Kit, only pay the $2.95 for shipping. (The shipping cost allows Google to screen for serious people). Step 2: Follow the directions on your package and set up a Google account. Then they will give you the website links to post. Start posting those links. Google tracks everything. Step 3: Google will send out your checks weekly. Or you can start to have them wire directly into your checking account. (Your first checks will be about $750 to $1,500 a week. Then it goes up from there. Depends on how many links you posted online.) Associated Links: Easy Google Profit official site

its a scam they want you to buy their google kit. Do not buy their kit its a totall waste. If you do want to do something to make little money. Learn how to create website, write random contents and upload google ads in there. Check out their website at: http://www.google.com/adsense Good Luck!

It's all a phish scam.
4 :
It's just a scam to get your credit card info. It might be "only" $2.95 for shipping, but they'll send you a HUGE bill later. It's only a "trial" period. Video Professor uses the same tactics. In addition, Google doesn't hire people to post links, nor do they post them themselves. People who are signed up with Adwords post links to advertise their websites, and Adwords costs money, on a per-click basis. They'll just send you some useless info that's far from the truth. If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is. Check out this little site about those data entry scams: http://freewebs.com/truthaboutdataentryjobs
5 :
its all just a scam even Google posted on its blog that these types of messages were fakes
6 :
Hey, hate to say this, but these are scams, abusing the name of Google, while they are actually not at all connected to Google... they promise you alot, and when you take a look at it, it seems as if it could work, but it doesn't. Besides that, they charge you a few dollars only for the welcome packet, and then 79dollars or something every month thereafter. You can read more about these types of scams in the article below. The only genuine way to earn money online via Google is through their Adsense system, which is FREE to subscribe to. Adsense is the system where you put ads from Google on your website, and get paid a small amount of money for each of your visitors who clicks an ad. Many visitors, means many clicks, and thus more money. Adsense can earn you quite some money, but it does take alot of effort and time.

If we hate the prime minister and government, why not have a president

If we hate the prime minister and government, why not have a president?
Why not in Great Britain? It seems to work in America and we could do with alot of work here in Britain. What are your views?

Haha but our president is a dumbass.
2 :
Because we have a constitutional monarchy i.e. the Queen is our head of State. Republics (states without monarch's) like Germany, France, and The USA have presidents, who act as their head of state. In reality is makes no difference, the PM of Britain for example has much more autonomy and is far less restricted by constitutional checks and balances than the US President. He/she can push an agenda much more aggressively than its US counterpart. You'd be surprised on just how restricted (at least on paper) the US President is, and often only has the power to persuade. Why do you hate the prime minister and government anyway??
3 :
Because it would take a major restructuring of your government. Personally, I like that you have a procedure of a "vote of no confidence" where you can vote the Prime Minister out. It would have worked very well here, a couple of times.

Do you think Britain should be proud of all she has achieved

Do you think Britain should be proud of all she has achieved?
Considering its size and population the rainswept island of Britain has given the world proportionately more than any other nation on earth. Britain has given the world its number 1 international language.English is the native language for millions throughout the planet and the 2nd language for billions more. We invented Parliamentary Democracy and legal systems - since adopted by nations throughout the world. Isaac Newton and his theories on gravity, maths, astronomy, physics, laws of motion, optics & prisms are still used as the basis for all science worldwide. Charles Darwins' Theory of Evolution transformed human beings understanding of ourselves and our place in the natural world. More recently in the 1980s Tim Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web. ritain started the Industrial Revolution with all its world changing pioneering engineering, mechanical, manufacturing and scientific techniques - the world's first steam engine, first train etc..... The sports of cricket, rugby, and football (the worlds' favourite game) all came from Britain. More importantly,Britain gave the world punk rock, heavy metal, glam rock, psychadelia, the punk/ska two tone revolution and street styles and fashions-'tudors' (teddy boys), skinheads (the proper ones),mods, punks, goths, new romantics - most now found throughout the world. Britain has produced a mass of internationally renowned literature which has since passed into folklore. This includes Mary Shelley's 'Frankenstein' which first introduced to the world the concept of the zombie.Bram Stoker's 'Dracula' was the world's first 'undead' vampire. British literature bequeathed the classics of Shakespeare, and Charles Dickens (A Christmas Carol/Scrooge,Oliver Twist,Great Expectations),works by Roald Dahl (Matilda,Charlie & The Chocolate Factory,The Witches) and HG Wells(The Time Machine,War Of The Worlds) Alice In Wonderland, Peter Pan,The Hobbit,Lord Of The Rings,Sherlock Holmes,Brave New World,Narnia,Lion The Witch & The Wardrobe,Golden Compass,Harry Potter and more. Many of these have since been made into films Since the days of Charlie Chaplin,Stan Laurel,Boris Karloff,Cary Grant and Hitchcock to Michael Caine,Sean Connery,Antony Hopkins to more recently Daniel Day Lewis, and Jude Law British actors and directors have played a pivotal role in both Hollywood and the UK film industry and 7 of the 10 most popular worldwide films of the past 5 years were based on British books including 'Narnia', 'Harry Potter','Charlie & The Chocolate Factory','Lord Of The Rings' and James Bond. And this is not even half of what Britain has done for the world and yet Americans like to take all the credit and make out like they invented the modern world! Nazi Germany wanted rid of anyone who was gay, jewish, dark haired and dark eyed. The British gave the world the above so I rest my case. I may not have personally had anything to do with this however I am proud of my nation knowing that almost evrerything the world does was probably British. I take it your German seeing as you agree with Nazi's???? lol The Big Dipper...Thanks for your opinion even if it s a foreign one. Freedom of speech yet another British tradition is a wonderful thing lol Ever heard of Aston Martins, Rolls-Royce, Bentley etc etc You must drive a peasant wagon in your country with chickens rinnung up and down lol sorry poor boy. Why is it when I try and make a comment on why I should be proud to be British I get comments like this and defensive ones at that. I asked British people not foreigners Ray whatever your name is my advise is to go back to school because my nation has been around much longer try thousands of years longer than yours and again I want Brits to answer this. Why on earth are there foreigners answering a Brit question???? Can't get enough of us lol. Fuck off and go eat your fast food a2x4dc the UK and US are not siblings whatsoever. We separated years ago and so we have nothing in common. We are both foreign to each other

I would arrange a phone call before I gave him any of that information..
2 :
They ask for a lot of personal information, sounds weird ...
3 :
Yes this is most likely a scam, but you can always send an e-mail asking for a phone call or further feedback regarding the position. Do not give any information until you are certain this is not a scam! Easy ways to tell that this is a spam is that almost all proper nouns (names) are in all capital letters while the rest is properly written. This indicates that it is a "Fill in your specific information" letter and written by a bot or by someone who is being paid peanuts to send out as many of these forms as possible.
4 :
Yep. This is almost certainly a scapegoat scam. Check out what he's wanting you to do: "set up appointments", "take payments", "book flight tickets", "receive letters". All of these are all suspect to a fraudulent scheme to set you up, but specifically, no self respecting employer, freelancing or otherwise, would have you taking a clients payments. Think for a moment - why do you suppose he would want your name on all the transactions that occurred? If this guy is world famous, how come you've never heard his name? And what on earth is he doing on craigslist? More likely than not, he's running an illegal operation, possibly weapons, drug or human trafficking. And guess who gets arrested if his crimes surface with the FBI? You. I'm warning you, this is a trap, don't fall for it!
5 :
As someone else said, I'd call before giving any information. However, I do get the sense that this is a scam. He says that you will accept payments for him....in reality would you hire someone who you didn't even interview in person to accept your money, when you could have someone you know do that, or better yet have it set to go into an international account?! He will likely send you bad check(s) and have you cash them then send the money to him and perhaps even keep some yourself for payment. In the end you will be paying big time when the check bounces!
6 :
100% scam. There is no job. There is only a scammer trying to steal your hard-earned money. The next email will be from another of the scammer's fake names and free email addresses pretending to be the "secretary/assistant/accountant" and will demand you cash a large fake check sent on a stolen UPS/FedEx billing account number and send 90-95% of the money via Western Union or moneygram back to the scammer posing as the "supply company" while you "keep" 5%-10%. When your bank realizes the check is fake and it bounces, you get the real life job of paying back the bank for the bounced check fees and all the bank's money you sent to an overseas criminal. Or the next email will be from another of the scammer's fake names and free email addresses pretending to be the "assistant" and will demand you accept packages purchased with stolen credit cards at YOUR home address. Then you are suppose to use a stolen UPS/FedEx billing account number to send the electronics, clothing and jewelry overseas. When the websites, credit card owners and UPS/FedEx discover the fraud, you get the real life job of paying back all of them. Then the local law enforcement comes knocking asking why are you fencing stolen merchandise for someone you never met, don't know their real life name and have no idea even what country they really live in. Western Union and moneygram do not verify anything on the form the sender fills out, not the name, not the street address, not the country, not even the gender of the receiver, it all means absolutely nothing. The clerk will not bother to check ID and will simply hand off your cash to whomever walks in the door with the MTCN# and question/answer. Neither company will tell the sender who picked up the cash, at what store location or even in what country your money walked out the door. Neither company has any kind of refund policy, money sent is money gone forever. Now that you have responded to a scammer, you are on his 'potential sucker' list, he will try again to separate you from your cash. He will send you more emails from his other free email addresses using another of his fake names with all kinds of stories of great jobs, lottery winnings, millions in the bank and desperate, lonely, sexy singles. He will sell your email address to all his scamming buddies who will also send you dozens of fake emails all with the exact same goal, you sending them your cash via Western Union or moneygram. Do you know how to check the header of a received email? If not, you could google for information. Being able to read the header to determine the geographic location an email originated from will help you weed out the most obvious scams and scammers. Then delete and block that scammer. Don't bother to tell him that you know he is a scammer, it isn't worth your effort. He has one job in life, convincing victims to send him their hard-earned cash. Whenever suspicious or just plain curious, google everything, website addresses, names used, companies mentioned, phone numbers given, all email addresses, even sentences from the emails as you might be unpleasantly surprised at what you find already posted online. You can also post/ask here and every scam-warner-anti-fraud-busting site you can find before taking a chance and losing money to a scammer. 6 "Rules to follow" to avoid most fake jobs: 1) Job asks you to use your personal bank account and/or open a new one. 2) Job asks you to print/mail/cash a check or money order. 3) Job asks you to use Western Union or moneygram in any capacity. 4) Job asks you to accept packages and re-ship them on to anyone. 5) Job asks you to pay visas, travel fees via Western Union or moneygram. 6) Job asks you to sign up for a credit reporting or identity verification site. Avoiding all jobs that mention any of the above listed 'red flags' and you will miss nearly all fake jobs. Only scammers ask you to do any of the above. No. Exceptions. Ever. For any reason. If you google "fake UK job", "fraud personal assistant Western Union scam" or something similar you will find hundreds of posts from victims and near-victims of this type of scam.
7 :

There is NO way he can employ or pay anyone in the US if he is not a - a registered business in the US b - has a US tax ID number c - has a merchant banking account to handle ALL financial transactions
8 :
Wow, I just got one of these in my email inbox as well. I always google the site, business, person, etc before I continue, so when I saw your question pop up on google, I knew it couldn't be a good sign. "He" sent me the same email, same words, same instructions. It is a scam most likely....how sad, huh? I hate the people who think it's fun to prey on us who are looking for jobs. Anyway, I wouldn't get back asap if I were you. The thing that tipped me off was the fact that he has no concept of how to type (unnecessary spaces between words and letters or no spaces at all), and how grammar works. A computer doesn't know these things, so it isn't a real man typing this. Keep looking, don't give up! =)

Why doesnt Britain become predominantly Catholic

Why doesnt Britain become predominantly Catholic?
Isnt it a strong firm faith based on Judaism which also honours women in Mary and includes The Matriarch in all of its doctrine. They follow The Holy Bible run good schools and do an enormous amount of great work for poor sick etc worldwide. If Britain are so against Islam taking hold why dont they now grasp the biggest and strongest Christian faith and live by it. Theyre always saying how Muslims oppress their women well clearly Catholics dont and actually have a woman alongside all of their taught scriptures. It may need as an organisation some shortcomings ironing out but isnt Catholicism the best way for broken bitter hate filled anti Islamic Britain now. And you have a Papal visit coming up too a golden chance to all convert and show Islam you have a good strong church faith instead of portraying what is a drunken immoral mess of a society? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kEogJacjLTE Re posted question i.e. better link ? And a very *VERY* good argument.

Better yet, why can't the world of religion actually practice what was supposedly preached about love, respect, and peace, helping the weak, providing for each other, not murdering, raping, slaughtering and commiting any manner of violent/oppressive acts all round. 'Cos that's what people keep saying THEIR god preaches? Or could it be, per chance, that too many are actually revelling and glorifying and justifying their love of such atrocious behaviour and dressing it up with religious excuses? Just a thought.
3 :
The Anglican Church, from what I understand is closer to the Roman Catholic Church than any other church. I believe they honor saints, and Mary and all. But I would think in Britain, unless they had a large influx of Irish Catholics or something (and there are a lot of Irish surnames in England, it seems to me) the Catholic Church would never regain it's pre-Henry VIII Catholicism. I mean, Bloody Mary certainly didn't do anything to win fans of the Catholic Church in Britain, even though she lived around 500 years ago or so.
4 :
It was tried and failed. They had their chance hundreds of years ago and let it slip. Why change now?
5 :
All this bluster about the western world being an immoral mess may sound convincing, but it doesn't stand up to scrutiny. In the Islamic world, people are far more likely to be starved, raped, beaten, enslaved, drugged...you name it. Our lives in the western world are far better: more free and more wealthy yes, but also kinder, gentler, more civilized in short, much more safe and less chaotic. Longer too! I don't know whether Christianity, rationalism, materialism, enlightenment, democracy, politics, culture or demographics is to credit for that...probably a mix of them all. Complex history certainly. But nothing suggests that either Islam or Catholicism offer any secrets to a better life that we should embrace at this moment. On the contrary, people who encourage religion are likely to be desperate and cynical power-mongers who have been left behind by progress and are lashing out. Tough.

Was There a Vote To Change the United States of America to the Socialist Republic of North America

Was There a Vote To Change the United States of America to the Socialist Republic of North America?
Socialism hasn't worked in once Great Britain, hasn't worked in Japan, so why are we rushing headlong as fast as we can towards it? Communism is a form of socialism, and it hasn't worked wonders in Russia either. http://english.pravda.ru/opinion/columnists/107459-0/ Why do we borrow trillions from China? Because Congress doesn't understand saving one dime, as most people in the USA don't either. I have more money in the bank that most people I know who make three times the amount I make.

It's not going to work here either. Well maybe after we have killed off half the population we can call it socialism.
2 :
The problem is the generations. Nobody wants to work hard and everybody know what's good for the other. Leave me alone, stop the taxing BS and I'll be just fine, and I won't impose my ideas of anti gay and anti abortion on you either. Yet the left sees fit to shove it down my throat......eventually I will push back!

Building a hybrid government..a mix between socialism and democracy.Even though they are complete opposites i believe it can be done.

yes. prior to the NOV 08 elections, then senator obama had been voted as the MOST liberal jr senator in 2006. Everyone who keeps up with current affairs knew his voting record (or lack thereof) on the federal level, and they had access to his left wing socialist voting record that has all but destroyed the city of Chicago, yet they wanted to bring that kind of CHANGE to the entire nation

Then, how do you explain Uncle Sam has owed Chinese Communist trillion of dollars and is still trying to borrow more from them?

Susan Boyle is over-rated. Diversity are amazing, I think they're slightly better than Flawless. SugarFree are good too (Y) But I think that Shaheen kid will win now, or maybe Shaun Smith (I think that's his name). Aidan Davies is also amazing, but I doubt he'd win, because George Sampson won last year, so it'd be too repeptitive.

what does "NON-USA FORMAT, PAL, Reg.2 Import - Great Britain" mean

what does "NON-USA FORMAT, PAL, Reg.2 Import - Great Britain" mean ?
i'm trying to buy a movie from amazon.com and it says "NON-USA FORMAT, PAL, Reg.2 Import - Great Britain," will the DVD still work in an american DVD player ? how will i know if my tv can handle it ?
TVs - 3 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
If your DVD Player is multi region and your TV can handle PAL format (america uses NTSC) then yes otherwise no.
2 :
USA/Canada/Mexico use the NTSC system. Its images are 4:3 and 720x486. It has a frame rate of 29.97 frames per second. EU/Most other places in the world use the PAL system. Its images are 5:4 and 720x576. It has a frame rate of 25 frames per second. The two systems are incompatible. Devices in the US won't play back content (like DVDs) designed for EU (British) equipment. You would need to buy a multi-format DVD player (not cheap). Reg.2 means Region 2 (Britain). North America is Region 1. So again North American devices won't read the disc. You again need a multi-region player (not cheap). And even if you do have a mutli-region DVD player, its going to playback the format it gets. So it will spit out PAL. Which means you need a multi-format TV or a PAL to NTSC converter box (not super expensive, but another added cost). Multi-region electronics are specialty and expensive. If you just bought a normal TV for a good/average price and same w/ the DVD player, they won't be multi-region. Some DVD players can be hacked to become multi-region (google around for your model #). But that can't be done for the TV. So then you'd need to find a PAL capable TV or buy a converter box (an example, http://sewelldirect.com/mayflash-pal-to-ntsc-converter.asp ) DVD drives in computers can sometimes handle it though. But the catch is that quite often the computer will only allow you switch regions so many times before it locks the computer. So right now your computer is region 1. You buy the disc and play it and you've changed to region 2. Next time you use a north american disc you switch it to region 1 again. Voila, you've already burned like 2 of your 5 changes. So not too helpful. You could try that and see if the computer will do it for you. You could then along the way use some software to "rip" (extract) the contents and make a digital file. Then you could play that out to your TV using a media streamer (like stick it on an Xbox 360 or PS3). A lot more complication and work though.

If a British citizen remains in Spain for a period of more than 90 days then they are obliged to apply for 'Residencia' - so the family member should have a Residencia Certificate. Likewise they should also have an NIE Number, a Social Security Number, and a Healthcare number - things that they should Not have in the UK if they have never worked or lived there permanently

Why did the american colonies of great britain revolt in 1776

Why did the american colonies of great britain revolt in 1776?
Also, Why did this war become a 'world war' by 1778, and In what sense was the american revolution a working-out of the principal ideas of the eighteenth century enlightenment? Any input is helpful, thank you!

they were being taxed heavily by the english and they were angry about it, the main taxes were the stamp act, the tea tax, and the townshend act. hope this helps, i was just doing this in my Social Studies class.
2 :
Taxation without representation.
3 :
the high taxes of colonists from the king
4 :
The best answer to your question is the Declaration of Independence. The beginning of the Declaration is our intention to declare independence. We explain next why we are going to do that. You should begin reading where it begins, "Usurpations of the King of Great Britain." By 1778, France had come over to our side, thus making it a "world" war. To know how the revolution was a working-out of the 18th-cent. enlightenment, go back to the beginning: "When in the course of human events it becomes necessary..."
5 :
Actually, the colonists were taxed at a much lower rate than British subjects in Britain were, but they resented paying taxes at all. They also resented British attempts to control all the maritime trade of the colonies with other countries and British colonies; this led to rampant smuggling and a cozy relationship with pirates. They also resented the peace terms that settled the 7 Year's War (here known as the French and Indian War) which kept the Americans to the east of the Appalachians. Oh, how they wanted the Ohio valley and all those Indian lands in the South! How dreadful that the British were stopping them from stealing all this land! As for Enlightenment principles, the principle that the people are the soverign power was the big one. Our current fearless leader has forgotten this and thinks that he is the soverign power.
6 :
The British Empire was at war with France. To generate the cash needed to win the war, the Empire raised taxes in all its colonies. Also, the American colonies wanted to expand west but the Empire forbade this as it had signed accords with the natives, ensuring their safety. When the civil war broke out (for this is what it was), the French established a naval blockade to hinder the British Empire landing more troops in the American colonies and supplying the armies they already had there. The war spread from Africa to the Carribean to the Americas and was the real first World War.
7 :
Good questions... The revolt was stated as pushing back against the English Crown for taxation without presentation. Many feel this is a good slogan, but doesn't hold up under close scrutiny. Others feel the real reason was that the predominant Americans did not feel they were getting the respect they merited/desired from the British aristocracy. Still others feel those most able to benefit from and independent America were the people most likely to sign. Draw your own conclusions - but many of those same people lost all they had by putting their name on the Delaration of Independence... It became a "World War" because the French and English were at odds and it made sense for France to destabilize the English by aiding the Americans/spreading out England's resources as a distraction to lessen their impact in Europe, just as Lincoln hoped to destabilize the South (during the Civil War) by signing the Emancipation Proclamation. With most of the new thinkers printing their thoughts and sharing their ideas from France and the U.S., and with France deposing its rulers on the heels of the American Revolution, it would make sense that those countries would become the laboratories of a sort for working through these new and dynamic thoughts shared by people such as Voltaire.

Great Britain : a country NONE like the others. Land of traditions. When you arrive into the UK, is other than the continent. The manner you seems to live with the idea that you still have an empire and rules the world (and reacts as if you are still a world power). You have had less influence from other countries since you did not have any occupation since ages. Funny is also the way that you react as practically all Europe does something in one way, you react as if the others are the strange ones. A lot of traditions. Your English humour. For that rather undeterminated "British", I like your country. By the way : I don't know where you have the impression that most of the Belgians work in the government (Belgium land of bureaucrats). That's definitely wrong. I think it comes from the EC in Brussels, but a lot of the people "working" there are not Belgians but foreigners (also a lot of British).

The next is Middle school year 5 - age 9 -10 year6 - age 10-11 year 7 age 11 - 12 year 8 - age 12- 13 Then finally High school Year 9 - age 13-14 year 10 - age 14- 15 (doing "mock" exams for GCSE's at this point) Year 11 - age 15 - 16 (Final year in school, do GCSE exams) Then perhaps on to college or 6th form for "A" Levels. Education is free in the UK until you go to University or college.

In Scotland, children usually start school at 5 or 6 years old depending on where their birthday falls in the year. There are 7 primary classes. There are 6 secondary years but only the first 4 are compulsory. (you can leave at 16) Standard grades, the most basic qualification, are taken across 3rd and 4th year with final exams being sat in may of 4th year. After that, students can take Intermediate 1s (equivalent to a standard grade), intermediate 2s (between a standard grade and the next level up) or highers. All of these are studied for a year with the exam in may. In 6th year, students can take further intermediate 1s and 2s and highers but they can also progress to advanced highers (equivalent to first year uni). State education is paid for through taxes but parents can choose to pay for private education. University education is Scotland is funded, for a maximum of 5 years (including repeat years), by the Scottish Government for Scottish students; English students are responsible for their own fees.

We do have free medical care for our own and foreigners can receive private treatment from our services. If they are asylum seekers or students the treatment is also free. You will have a student visa which you may need to show if you need to make a hospital visit, you should register with a GP as soon as possible when you arrive. Some services also have a small charge. Your place of study should tell you what you need to know about the system. You can take out private health insurance and use this if you prefer, Bupa is considered to be excellent. http://www.bupa.co.uk/promotions/B544/

You should be able to make a purchase with a regular Visa card although you may get caned with the % on the conversion rate. Mastercard or Amex should work as well but you'll still be subject to the conversion rate. US/UK transactions are a pain, trust me I know, I've done a few and you'd think you were trying to send money to the Moon or a 3rd World country in either direction sometimes. I've asked at my (UK) bank and my daughter has asked at her US bank(s) and basically they're clueless but they don't care cos they get a nice big fat commission by ripping you off. Only other alternative is to see if the product is available on somewhere like e-Bay that uses Paypal or similar or failing that see if the vendor will accept an IMO (International Money Order) or a Western Union payment.
2 :
The seller has most likely had problems with purchasers from Great Britain and has instructed its payment processor to not accept payments from British banks. You will most likely have to call the seller and make alternate arrangements such as international money order.

Obama's staff would cherry pick the questions in advance and throw him cream puff questions pitched softball style. Remember when Gibbs said reporters have to email in their questions, and then the White House will decide which ones to answer?
10 :
They call it "Question Time" not "Answer Time". It can be a bit of a mess. I couldn't imagine US politicians handling such scrutiny. Never happen. I would have loved to watch Bush actually be forced to deal with someone who disagreed with him though.
11 :
It would at least assure that people who run for presided think they could defend their policies when questioned, which would improve the quality of the people who run. The only president I have seen that I think could handle being questioned is Clinton, and the country did pretty well when he was president.

Just wondering about the monarchy in Great Britain

Just wondering about the monarchy in Great Britain...?
I was just thinking about, who will be the next in line to be king/queen of Great Britain when HMS Queen Elizabeth 2 passes away. And please explain to me how Great Britain monarchy works. P.S: provide your answers with evidence

Male preference. So the throne goes the monarch sons and their heirs then the Monarchs daughters and their heirs. 1. Prince Charles 2. Prince William 3. Prince Harry 4. Prince Andrew 5. Princess Beatrice 6. Princess Eugene 7. Prince Edward 8. Viscount Severn "Prince James" 9. Lady Louise Windsor "Princess Louise" 10. Princess Anne
2 :
HMS? She's not a ship LOL! And what you really mean is the United Kingdom - Great Britain is just the name of the island that England, Scotland and Wales are on. The United Kingdom includes Northern Ireland as well. Anyway, English common law, which governs this, provides that the line of succession to the throne goes by "male-preference primogeniture" which means eldest child comes first, and boys come before girls. Queen Elizabeth II is only Queen because she was the first-born child of the previous King and had no brothers. How that works out now is, to put it as simply as possible, the next in line is HM Queen Elizabeth II's eldest child, males first. That makes the heir apparent to the throne her eldest son, Prince Charles. He has two children (Princes William and Harry) so they are the two next in line. If Prince William has a legitimate child, that moves Prince Harry further down the line. If somehow all 3 of them and any further children they have get killed off, next in line after that is the Queen's second son, Prince Andrew, Duke of York, and then his 2 daughters Beatrice and Eugenie. And so on - you just keep going to the next nearest relative, males first. The full line of succession (so far as anyone has worked it out) is at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Line_of_succession_to_the_British_throne How the monarchy in the UK actually works in terms of how the UK is governed is that it is a constitutional monarchy, meaning that the monarch is the head of state but the actual powers they have are restricted by law. What actually happens for real is that it works like European republics do, except we have a Queen instead of a President (and that saves the cost of presidential elections!) The UK is quite unusual in that we don't actually have a written constitution, so a lot of how it works is just because "everyone knows how it's supposed to work" and the Queen knows that the monarchy wouldn't last much longer if she didn't "play by the unwritten rules". So... the British governmental system. Parliament consists of the House of Lords (mostly appointed people, like the Canadian Senate) and the House of Commons, which is elected in exactly the same way as US Congressmen. The Queen can appoint whoever she likes as Prime Minister but in reality she only ever appoints the leader of the party that wins in an election for the House of Commons. (She'd lose her job if she didn't!) If no one party gets more than half the seats, she will wait until the politicians sort it out between themselves who should be Prime Minister, and appoint whoever they choose. That happened after the general election on 6 May 2010 - no party got more than half the seats, and after negotiation, the Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats worked out that they could form a government together. So now we have a Prime Minister who is a Conservative, a Deputy Prime Minister who is the leader of the Liberal Democrats, and a Cabinet with a few Lib Dems amongst the Conservatives. It's working amazingly well, at least so far. If both Houses of Parliament pass a Bill, it has to go for Royal Assent but this is never refused (the last time was over 300 years ago). General elections have to take place at least every 5 years but usually what happens is that the Prime Minister asks the Queen for one (only the Queen can dissolve Parliament and call an election and naturally she never refuses the Prime Minister's request) when he/she thinks the opinion polls are going their way, usually after about 4 years. The last Parliament was an unusual one - it nearly ran the full 5 years and Gordon Brown, the last Prime Minister, only called it for 6 May because many local elections were due on the same day and it's cheaper to run 2 elections at the same time. In many ways it's indefinable but most of we Brits like it as it is - we have democracy insofar as a country of 60 million people can be, and also the wonderful pageantry of royal events. This all comes together every year at the State Opening of Parliament, when the Queen travels to Parliament in a horse-drawn coach, sits on the throne in the House of Lords, summons the Commons to attend her and reads a speech declaring what "My Government" intends to do in the coming year. BUT the speech is written for her by the government and she just reads it out with a totally straight face. http://www.parliament.uk/ will give you plenty of evidence.

18 years i think?!

The school leaving age was raised to sixteen some time in the early 70s, I can't remember the year, perhaps 1972? Before that it was 15. I left school at sixteen in 1973, after doing my O levels. This was quite usual in the seventies, far fewer people then went on to further education, and there were a lot more jobs for people with few or even no education qualifications.

Are the countries of Great Britain actually countries? How does that work?
I know Scotland gained its independence in 03, but did it really? Are they countries like the US and Canada, or do they just call them countries to make them feel good, and they're more like US States, where you may have different less significant laws and state senators, but you're still subject to US law?

I suppose it is similar. However, they are all real countries with their own histories. Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales have a certain amount of autonomy but are also subject to UK law.
2 :
NO THEY ARE NOT LIKE STATES AT ALL. all the countries in the UK have a history dating back to roughly the year 100. the UK was formed in 1707 so the UK is actually only a short part of these countries histories. the UK setup is NOTHING like the USA setup. our histories, values and cultures are completely different. although they are more alike now than what they would have been before the UK was established.

I have a family and would like to move to Great Britain, but am concerned about the quality of life.

I have a family and would like to move to Great Britain, but am concerned about the quality of life.?
I am considering applying for work in Great Britain, but am worried about the cost of living and the quality of life. I have looked at a few cost of living calculators, but they are geared towards ex-pats and therefore I do not know how that compares to "regular people's" living expenses. I have a wife and two children (10 and 2 years old) and live in Vancouver, BC. I could earn around 65,000 to 85,000 pounds per year if I worked in London and about 15 to 20% less if I worked somewhere in Midlands, Bristol or Manchester. How does that amount of income sound for a family of four? We would like to live in a safe neighborhood that is near business centers and quality schools. I am not interested in anything more than a 45 minute commute. We would like an area that has lots of parks and green space. How is the health care system in Great Britain? Are there very long waits for services? Can one easily find a family doctor? If anyone who presently lives in there ever lived in Canada then I would appreciate a comment on how life is similar or different. I understand it is expensive, but I am curious as to how that relates to the income I posted. That amount is about 50- 70% more than I can make here. Plus thanks for the note about moving the question, but I don't know how. I am new to this...

I have a friend who just moved from there, her family moved because it was to hard to get housing there and it is way to crowded. The amount of people that immigrate there is insane and great britain is to small for all the people they let in. You might have better luck with Ireland or Scotland but don't move to london or any of the English parts because they are very crowded. She even told me that the English county side is crowded. Also its a very high cost of living way worse then vancouver and victoria or Kelowna BC. Basically she can get two items here for the cost she could get one in England. From what she explained to me about living there her whole life it would be a good place to vacation but not to live.

Is it true that Harry Potter is Great Britain's greatest literary work?

Harry Potter is the WORLD'S greatest literary work!!!!!
2 :
if you call fiction a great literary work, you do not have the taste for literature. i would call salman rushdie a far better writer than J.K rowling
3 :
Absolutely not!
4 :
No it's not
5 :
Of course not. Who on earth ever argued such a ridiculous thing (12 year olds do not count)? British/English literature goes back a millennium. Beowulf, Chaucer, Shakespeare, Tennyson, Shelley, Byron, White, Tolkien, Lewish and many, many more are much greater literary masters than Rowling. There's no debate there and I assure you Rowling would not argue herself.
6 :
Um maybe in the realm of fantasy, but i guess this all depends on who is saying its the greatest. thats all opinion but i dont think it comes any where near the greatest.
7 :
Most definitely...NOT!! Although I would conceed that JKR is now in league with many of the great British authors (Bronte, Hardy, Forster etc) Harry Potter cannot be considered the greatest literary work to come out of Britain. However, if you were to add "in our time" to the end of you sentence then you could get the answer yes. JKR made it possible for kids to fall in love with reading again. And Harry Potter appeals to people of all ages because, depending on where you are at in your life you will get a different message from the books. JKR is a genius, and I love her to bits as an author, but don't ever forget the hundreds of amazing authors to come from Britain.
8 :
I personally believe Harry Potter is the worst thing ever made. I am appalled on how this author has glamorized the art of witchcraft and unholy phenomenon. Yes I'm probably gonna get alot of crap but who cares. I understand this is fantasy, but to young children, it is very impressionable. No way would I let my children read that crap.
9 :
Great Britain's greatest literary work ever, no, but in our time yes!
10 :
no its not, but its a great fictional novel series!!!!
11 :
I think that it is definitely too early to say. Harry Potter needs to be tested over time. Works from other authors, such as Shakespeare, have already proved themselves as well as providing groundbreaking new literally styles.
12 :
i suspect that in the fullness of time people will realise that the fundamental input from shippers, and the way jkr played with her audience on her website, make the harry potter series a new kind of fiction. when something is a different kind of thing from something else it comes close to being meaningless to compare them. an orange isn't better than a tomato, george eliot isn't better than smollett, picasso isn't better than martin scorsese. the harry potter series is the greatest interactive novel ever written - but then so far it is probably the only interactive novel ever written. i suspect a hundred years from today it will still be the best of its kind; the way shakespeare is the best of his kind.

I'd stay at your farm, Britain really isn't that great. I do not know what you mean by 'dominate me', it sounds kinda kinky. A lot of farm work in the UK is done by Polish immigrants who now want to go home. The pay is poor -usually sub-minimum wage. The farming industry has been eaten alive by the supermarket chains such as Sainsburys, Asda and Tesco.

Hi Wes. I suspect the lack of response to your question is because Britain has suffered a huge influx of people from other countries coming in, in the last few years. As a result, the Natives are getting a little tetchy about it. I do not have a problem with it at all, but I do feel that you should research this and give it a lot of thought before you decide. As an island, our tourist industry is largely about boats. Where I come from in Norfolk, we have large stretches of river and more importantly the Norfolk Broads. (link below) Have a look. Marine engineering is a highly skilled job, but I can't decide for you, what you should do, especially the Spanish wife bit. :-) . I think people have an idealistic view of what Britain is like. Why not have a holiday in Britain a few times before you decide. Come to Norfolk first though. lol.

No! Don't try it either. See its basicly the electric currents being diffrent around the world, so our gizmos must be made for those currents. It'll probably blow up or not play or something if you do attempt it.

the games are not cross compatible unless u mod the console but thats dodgy. you can use american consoles here and vice versa but u will need a step up or down transformer.

No they won't work....as to provide copyright protection all continents have their own wave.....as an EU country the UK games have "Pal" protection...which means they will only work in "Pal" systems, if you try to trade in the game or use it on your xbox it will give you a message like "sorry your xbox 360 does not support this type of game" it will not blow up or cause any harm though

3 :
Britain is a democracy, the USA is a "Democratic Republic" Britain has a parliamentary system where elected officials are obliged to follow the wishes of their constituents... The US is a Republic, where elected officials are chosen to do what they "feel is best" for those who elected them, but have no legal obligation to do so. In the US, if one party wins 34% of the vote, and the rest of the votes are split between two other parties who get 33% each, the party that got 34% would win everything. In the UK, the three parties would get "proportional representation" in government of 34%, 33% & 33% respectively.

YES AND NO Adaptors should be used only for electonic devices rated for 220 voltage. My xbox arcade was only rated for 110 which is the US voltage You'll need a transformer to plug into the wall to step down the voltage from the Europe 220 to the American 110. After that then you should be able to play on your system freely but be sure to check your TV's voltage as well.

England is PART of Great Britain, which is an island, and Great Britain is part of the United Kingdom, which includes Northern Ireland. The United Kingdom is part (the superior part, monarchically) of the Commonwealth of Nations which used to be called the British Commonwealth, and essentially began (but the countries and reasons why they belong have changed dramatically) as the British Empire. Is that what you need?
2 :
Yes they were both Scotland and England were made up of petty Kingdoms which eventually unified into there own nations. For centuries the two crowns were completely separate. Elizabeth I was the last of the Tudors her closest relation was James VI, King of Scotland. He was the great grandson of her aunt Margaret Tudor and through a secret agreement she named him heir. Elizabeth was Queen of two independent countries England and Ireland. James I then became King of England, Scotland and Ireland. They however remained separate kingdoms with there own parliaments and none were too keen on unification. It would be over a century before Great Britain would emerge. James II and VII was James I grandson. He was a catholic while the Scottish and English people were mostly protestant. The highly protestant parliament dislike James because as a Catholic he though he was unaccountable to them. This lead to his disposition and his protestant daughter and her husband were invited by the parliaments to have the thrones. She was succeeded by her sister Anne (who was childless) the last Protestant Stuart. England decided it would not tolerate another catholic King and so ruled that a distant but protestant relative from Germany would succeed to the throne. Scotland however was more inclined to accept the Catholic Stuarts. England did not want to risk having a catholic nation in her backyard. Scotland was also bankrupt from failed attempts at trying to establish colonies. To stop any chance of a Catholic neighbour England offered Scotland a choice union and England would give Scotland the same money they lost in their colonial ventures taking it out of poverty and in exchange they would become one Kingdom. After debate in both Parliaments the bill got through and the English and Scottish Parliaments merged to form a new British Parliament and the Kingdom of Great Britain was created in 1707. It was not until a 1800 that Ireland joined the union and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland was formed. in 1922 The Irish free state succeeded from the union but 6 counties in the north remained in the union and hence the UK is now the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
3 :
There is only one, the monarchy of the United Kingdom. I'm British and I know our country can be confusing but it goes like this. If I explain the history in the shortest way I can that'll probably be the most helpful way. Great Britain is the name of the main island, so it means England + Scotland + Wales. It means nothing more than that. They were originally separate countries but in the 1500s England took over Wales, and in 1707 England/Wales united with Scotland to form the United Kingdom of Great Britain. Then it started to take over Ireland and in 1800 Ireland became part of the United Kingdom. Most of the Irish never really liked it and "the Irish problem" has raged ever since (I was nearly killed by Irish terrorists nearly 30 years ago when they exploded a car bomb outside the store I was shopping in) - anyway, in 1922, most of Ireland got its independence apart from a small part in the north where most of the people wanted to stay British because their families were originally from Scotland anyway. The minority there that didn't still complain about it and that's why we had the terrorism and also why political parties in Northern Ireland are totally different from in the rest of the UK. So now the full name of the country is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. That's a bit of a mouthful so we just call it Britain or the UK for short. You can't make an adjective out of it either so we call UK people British, just as US people are American. (While I'm thinking of it, a mistake Americans often make is to talk about England when they really mean Britain - this really annoys the Scots and the Welsh!) Now for monarchy. England and Scotland used to have separate monarchies because they were separate countries, and Wales was never totally united before England took it over. In 1603, Queen Elizabeth I of England died childless, and because her aunt Margaret married the King of Scotland, it so happened that the nearest relative eligible to be King of England was the King of Scotland - so King James VI of Scotland became King James I of England at the same time. Every king and queen after that was king or queen of both England and Scotland at the same time, until the Union of 1707. And that's the monarchy we have now - the monarchy of the United Kingdom. I hope that cleared it up.

Thats easy they just suck blood from the peasants, they dont work
5 :
The lower classes are bored with their lives so they need to worship something. They see a queen on the news and they accept to pay the price. They are called commoners and they don't mind.
6 :
There is only one monarchy - the monarchy of the United Kingdom. The United Kingdom is Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Great Britain is the island countaining England, Scotland and Wales. King James VI of Scotland inherited the English crown in 1603, creating a single kingdom. That kingdom united politically in 1707 creating a single new country. Queen Elizabeth II is the queen of the entire United Kingdom.
